Disney Dreamin’

As I sit at work, reality is beginning to settle in and I am missing my second home more than ever. Whilst looking back on my most recent trip to the most magical place on this earth, the motivation to reach my dreams of working for Disney is becoming stronger with each glance at the castle. I know that some people wonder how Disney can mean so much to me, and it is almost impossible to explain why a photo of Walt Disney can make me emotional. The joy and happiness that Disney has given me throughout my childhood and challenging times through growing up is difficult to count up. Disney isn’t just for children, adults need just as much happiness and faith, if not more than children do. The first time I watched Tangled was when I realised just how much Disney meant to me. I just cannot wait for all my exams to end and finally be able to focus on my future and what it is I want to do for the rest of my life!

Now that I have done the soppy introduction of how much I love Disney, I’ll get on to my actual trip! Even though travel took us almost 15 hours each way due to travelling by coach and facing the motion sickness that a ferry can do, nothing could take away from how magical this trip to Disneyland Paris really was. We had two full days in the park, and it was a struggle to fit everything in, but with all of the new additions to the park such as Ratatouille land and The Forest of Enchantment, as well as experiencing Swing Into Spring for the first time, I made sure to see everything that I’ve never seen before! Seeing all the flowers and meeting the characters again made me more than happy, and watching Disney Dreams on the castle made me cry a few tears as always! But one of the best parts was having Peter Pan blow me a kiss from the parade float, of course! Sadly I didn’t get to meet him on this trip and was graced with Captain Hook instead!

As I plan my next trip and price everything up, I will leave you with some of my favourite photos! Thank you for reading! x

February Favourites!

I am soooo sorry it has been so long since my last blog post! Sixth form and work has got so stressful recently! This month has been good in the way I have bought a number of things and getting closer to the things I’m most excited for. It has been a difficult month and a very trying one to say the least but I am still positive towards the future! I also figured that I had enough to cover a favorites tag which I have been watching and reading on the internet since I was probably about 13! Although I still have 2 days left of this short leap year month, I have no more money for my favorites to change, so lets get going!

Favourite Piece of Clothing!

I got this piece quite late in the month when I was out only to buy a hairdryer… but I had to go and have a look in New Look since the new line’s for spring are coming in! This top caught my eye immediately and I just knew I needed to buy it! Having short dark hair and pale skin, I like to emphasize these features considering I can’t do much about it (and don’t particularity want to!). This top does exactly that! With some dark lipstick and black skinny jeans, I can make my features work best and feel rather confident while doing so!

Favourite scent!

Smelling like a VS Angel is the closest i’m ever going to get to being one, so I purchased Love Spell! I was surprised to see Victoria Secret body mists and lotions in T J Hughes, but not bothered by it at all! I always go into Victoria Secret while down Birmingham and just look at the sprays and perfumes while glancing back at my empty purse! I’ve looked at the VS website and I can’t see these being sold anymore, so possibly they’re selling them off maybe? But either way, that can’t take away from the smell that this mist has. It smells like a drink I’ve had before but it has the sweetest and most tropical smell ever. With hints of pineapple (from what I smell), peach and cherry blossom, I just want to be on a beach drinking Pina Colada while sunbathing under a palm tree whenever I wear it!

Favourite Lip Product!

Although I have too many lipsticks to count and there is no possible way that I may finish them all, I went on a search for a dark yet nude colour. I went on an online mission and heard good reviews on Little Mix’s lipstick collection. At first I was a bit apprehensive. You know, a girl band brings out lipstick’s and you think its targeted towards the younger teenage scene. How wrong I was!  I went for the shade ‘Jade’ (which I’m guessing Jade wears, obviously) and for £6.00 off eBay, I took the plunge and bought it. I haven’t stopped wearing it since I purchased it! After trying light pink nude colours, they just didn’t work for me and as previously mentioned, dark colours emphasize my small amount of features I kind of want to show. It is a nude purple on my lips and doesn’t feel tacky or drying, complete opposite actually! It is moisturizing and stays on my lips with about two applications throughout the day!

Favourite Fashion Accessory!

When I buy bags, I fail to pick one that will go with pretty much all outfits and will fit a good amount in! That’s where I made sure to not do the same mistake when picking this one out! Once again, I got this on the same trip to New Look and with all the sales in there at the moment, I checked out the bag section and saw they had a sale on the bags. Automatically I picked this bag up and began thinking of all the outfits I could wear with it, the make up, the hair and what I could put in it. Without looking at the price tag, I already knew I had to get this bag and finding out it was on sale for £8.99 I was not going to give it up for anything! The pattern on the front with the plait and tassel’s give it a plain yet interesting look to it, and the colour matches all of my favorite shades to wear!

Favourite book!

After studying Trainspotting for Media Studies and reading an article on the themes it contains, I was really intrigued to go to Waterstones and purchase it! So far I’m a few pages in and I am seriously enjoying it! Although Irvine Welsh has written the language to be pronounced in Scottish, it takes me a while to get into the flow of the book! However, that doesn’t take away from the humour, pain and dream to escape from a number of things that radiates from this book! I am really pleased with this purchase and can’t wait to get further into it!

A few other things I have been enjoying this month are Tropical Fruit Coolers from Costa, Orange Is The New Black on Netflix and The 1975!

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! If I gain enough within the months I may possibly put one of these at the end of every month as I have enjoyed doing this! Next month, I’m excited for two particular things. I have recently booked tickets to see The 1975 and in the same week, I am going to my favorite place in this whole entire world; DISNEYLAND PARIS!

Thank you for reading, liking and following my blog!

The Next Step

Getting an education in the UK is compulsory, and you need to stay in some form of education until you’re 18, whether that be college, an apprenticeship or sixth form. For me, I felt the route of sixth form was the best path, although I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t really enjoy it, but the more I travel to university open days and interviews, the more it hits me that soon I won’t be in the same building I have been travelling to for seven, nearly eight years now.

From what I’ve read, university is one of the biggest steps to anticipate in your life if you choose to go down that road. Although I am beyond excited to go to university, I can’t help but feel rather sad and extremely nervous to leave the building in which I have spent almost half of my life in! However, the contrasting idea of leaving the building that has led me into this chapter of my life excites me, while also making me feel like a Disney princess embarking on their new adventure!

University was never my first choice for the future. I was so indecisive before I chose to study Media and Communications. I went from every job occupation you could think of. I believed I could be a music composer, a travel agent, primary school teacher, EVERYTHING! My issue was I knew how many opportunities there are in this world, and limiting it down to just one was mentally impossible for me to do! Oh, I still have no clue on what I want to do once I leave university, I have no idea how much I am going to enjoy university. But as it all becomes closer, I believe that I am starting to get closer to the future I truly want, while also realising that I am good enough and smart enough to go to university and succeed!

So it is about 5 months until everything is all done with sixth form, and the creation of unconditional offers allows me to be accepted into university before I even take my exams. This means, by deciding on the correct university, I am definitely going to university this year, and I am going to be embarking on this next step in my life. I still have no idea on how to feel about that, but I will tell you that when I get there!

(I have created this blog post more for personal experience. A few years down the line, I’m going to enjoy flicking back to this blog post and reading everything I was feeling at this current point in time. I want to see how much life has changed! Either way, I hope you have enjoyed!)

Therapeutic Colouring for Adults!

When I heard the trend of colouring books for adults coming into fashion, I couldn’t contain my excitement! I saw numerous people on Instagram and Twitter, showing their most recent design and just HAD to get one! Not only are they just a great way to feel nostalgic and experience being a kid again, but they are also a great way to relax after a busy day of work, school or revision and are extremely therapeutic!

The two I picked up from Waterstones include  I Love Colouring and the popular Johanna Basford Enchanted Forest.

What I enjoy most about them, especially the I Love Colouring one, is the various design patterns they offer from trippy spirals to tree-house’s with pink birds! The only issue is with this is the time passes sooooo quickly! So I recommend settling down with your colouring book AFTER you have finished whatever work it is you have to complete!

They also make great presents for birthdays and Christmas’s! If you know somebody in your family who enjoy’s art or you feel could do with some time out from work, suggest this to them! I got my dad the Lost Ocean one by Johanna Basford and he loves it! They vary in price from the sizes and designs you get! They are also very easy to purchase! From what I’ve heard from other people is they are sold through Amazon, Waterstones and Supermarket branches such as ASDA and Tesco.

So if you’re stuck on ideas for presents, these are a great shout! Or if you just need to find a new way to relax and the suggestion of YOGA really doesn’t appeal, grab yourself a colouring book and get cosy!

Personal Top 5 Attractions at Disneyland Paris!

Disneyland Paris is a place I have been travelling to since I was around 5. Without fail, it was my families holiday destination every year! Still I cannot get over the atmosphere of magic and happiness everywhere, as well as that first moment on your trip where you walk down Main Street USA and take a glimpse of the famous castle.

As a Disney enthusiast, I often class Disneyland Paris as my second home and I can never overcome shedding a few tears on the Eurostar back home! As my trip is quickly approaching (25th March!!!), I felt it was only right to create a post on my top 5 attractions to visit while you’re there, or should I say top things to know before you go! (If you have visited Disneyland Paris before, you will understand that reference from the TV inside the resort’s hotel. If not, I may look a tad strange right now!)

5. Armageddon: les Effets Spéciaux

Located within Walt Disney Studios Parks, this special effects ride is overlooked quite a bit, yet it has become one of my favorites over the years!Armageddon.jpg

Armageddon is an attraction based from the 1998 Walt Disney Studio’s film, and takes a scene from the film and incorporates you as their new actors! If you are familiar with this film, the scene included is where they are on the International Space Station with the Russian astronaut, just as the meteors are flying into the ship and a big explosion occurs. The ride is fantastic whether you have seen the film or not, as the shaking metal floor and the huge fire pit and oil explosion creates the feeling you are actually in outer space experiencing this (minus the space suit!). If you are ever planning a Disney trip, make sure Armageddon is an attraction you visit!

4. Discovery Arcade

If you are CRAZY on lights and beautiful sites and walkways like me, (rather strange I am aware), then Discovery Arcade is a perfect attraction and visit for your Disneyland Paris trip! discovery arcade

Discovery Arcade, located on Main Street USA, is an attraction in which allows you to walk down the strip and gaze into the various decorations displayed within the shop windows. 1920’s America is one of my favorite periods of history from the music, to the musicals, to the fashion! Therefore the entire feel and atmosphere throughout Main Street always captivates me! I particularly enjoy walking through the Discovery Arcade and various walkways after watching Disney Dreams at night! I feel it is the perfect way to end a tiring, yet exciting and thrilling day at the parks!

3. La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty’s castle)

You are probably surprised as to why I have chosen this as my 3rd top attraction! Unlike other castle’s at other resorts across the globe, Sleeping Beauty’s castle allows you to go inside and explore! Including a dungeon containing the light sleeping dragon ready to eat you up for dinner, to Disney’s ever famous stain glass windows of the famous movie, this attraction sure is one of the highlights to anybody’s trip whether you are on a romantic get away with your significant other, or a family trip!

As well as being able to explore inside the castle, you can also discover the glass shop which displays figurines and statues made entirely out of glass and various diamonds, while also possibly being able to see one created inside the shop! Finally,my favorite part of this attraction is being able to view Fantasyland from a higher perspective and look at the beauty and magic that this resort has to offer.

2. ‘Its A Small World’

From the song referenced within Hercules and The Lion King and possibly more, to the happiest cruise to set sail, Its A Small World is a perfect attraction for literally everybody and anybody!

Its a Small World is a must when on a Disney trip! This ride literally captures me and makes me feel like a little kid again which is how you should feel while at Disneyland! The song will be in your head for the rest of your life, and yes you will annoy absolutely EVERYBODY when you come back from your trip as you will not be able to stop singing it! Apart from that, this ride is one of the highlights of every trip I have taken to Disneyland Paris from the final scene with the extravagant lights and costumes. It is also what this world needs to realise at this moment in time!

On my last trip, I must have gone on this ride about 5 times because it is literally my favorite ride of all time! It was extremely difficult to narrow all my favorite rides down to 5 but this one definitely has the top spot at Disneyland Paris!

Star Tours has become a family favorite within my house, from the waiting in the queue with all of the decoration and themes, as well as feeling you are aboard one of the ships from Star Wars! Knowing that this ride will be closed on my next visit makes me extremely sad, but the thought of the ride becoming even better through refurbishments makes me completely excited at the same time (what a juxtaposition!) Since the release of Force Awakens, my love and adoration for Star Wars has completely flooded back! The merchandise from the gift shop will be too much for my purse to handle, let me tell you that right now!

Narrowing attractions down to 5 was super difficult! Having to exclude rides such as the Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom Manor, Space Mountain Mission 2 and Big Thunder Mountain wasn’t easy let me say that! These 5 however, leave many memories from years and years and remind me of how amazing my childhood was thanks to Disney!

I hope you have enjoyed this! This has been my first ever blog post so I do hope you have enjoyed it! I know that I have enjoyed creating this as it has made me utterly and completely mad about going soon!

Thank you for reading!

Generic introductory post

Hola! I’m Olivia Jane Lawlor. I live near Birmingham in the UK and this is my blog which will include various posts including beauty, travel, Disney and life experiences!

I am currently studying A-Levels and hope to go to university to study Media and Communication studies. For the future I hope to travel more, create music while exploring the world of what it has to offer!

My interests (to name a few) include Disney, music of all sorts, reading, many types of movies, excluding horror’s, and animals.

The reason in which I decided to create a blog is due to the fact I have been reading blogs for years now and figured, why not give it a shot myself! So here I am giving it a go!

I will also be reinforcing this blog by uploading vlogs onto my Youtube channel, possibly sharing blog posts between the two!

I do hope you enjoy everything you see and if you have any improvements I could make, please let me know!
